TORONTO, Aug. 12 /CNW/ – Visa Inc. (NYSE: V – News) announced today in Canada that Blenz The Canadian Coffee Company Ltd. is the latest company to join the growing roster of Visa payWave(TM) contactless payment enabled merchants. Visa payWave allows consumers to simply “wave and go” when stopping for their favourite Blenz beverage.

“Visa payWave makes everyday transactions faster and more convenient,” said Mike Bradley, Head of Products, Visa Canada. “It’s exciting to see one of British Columbia’s largest coffeehouses offering Visa payWave to its customers.”

“We’re excited to have found one more way to help our customers to enjoy their day. With Visa payWave, they’ll see fewer and quicker line-ups and they can pick up their beverage and be on their way with just a friendly wave”, says George Moen, President, Blenz.

Fifty-three Blenz locations in British Columbia will be equipped with Visa payWave terminals that can help increase speed at the cash register, which is an important consideration for quick service restaurants.

The deployment of Visa payWave-enabled Visa cards and point-of-sale terminals is closely aligned with Visa’s migration to chip card technology in Canada. Visa employs a layered approach to its fraud prevention efforts, including technology on the card itself as well as on Visa’s processing network to help heighten security efforts.

Blenz Coffee becomes a tourist destination with Vancouver & Whistler Illustrated

Blenz Vancouver, BC – August 7, 2009 A new partnership was mapped between Blenz Coffee and Vancouver & Whistler Illustrated which will drive tourists into these local coffee houses with free tourist maps.

Vancouver & Whistler Illustrated has been creating free tourist maps for the past eight years and has become a significant resource for people seeking tourism information on Vancouver and Whistler. This year Blenz Coffee has been integrated into these maps with icons identifying all 20 Blenz Coffee locations in Downtown Vancouver and Whistler Village.

Blenz Coffee has also become one of the major distributors of these maps, making them available to customers in their stores. “A significant number of our customers in these core areas are visitors, and by
carrying these maps we are able to provide more value to them,” commented George Moen, president of Blenz Coffee.

The 2009 Maps & Directory from Vancouver & Whistler Illustrated is now available at various tourist destinations and Blenz Coffee locations in Downtown Vancouver and Whistler.

Blenz Coffee Opens Up for South Okanagan Residents and Visitors

Blenz The Canadian Coffee Company Ltd. proudly announces the grand opening of Blenz – Penticton, the 5th Blenz location in the Okanagan region and the 54th Blenz location in British Columbia.

  Penticton, BC – June 25, 2009. Nancy and Brett DeWitt opened the door to their new Blenz Coffee shop in Penticton today with a Grand Opening Celebration, and invited the entire community to the party. “Nancy and I are pleased to have our Blenz Coffee business located in Penticton. It’s a community we are proud to be part of. We love the coffee business, and we look forward to being part of the Penticton business community too,” says Brett.
Nancy and Brett were excited to welcome their Penticton neighbours to their new Blenz store which has been carefully designed to provide a warm and contemporary ambiance where customers are encouraged to gather and relax, enjoy their beautifully handcrafted quality beverages and treats, and where they can also enjoy use of the free wireless internet and share in a conversation and a smile.

Nancy completed the rigorous six-week Master Barista training program at Blenz Coffee Academy in Vancouver, finishing the course with flying colours. Fellow BCA star, Carol Dyck, who recently took over Blenz in West Kelowna, was happy to make the trip to the Grand Opening of the Blenz – Penticton. Photographers were on hand as the two celebrated Nancy’s launch with hugs and thumbs up.
Blenz Master Franchisor for the Okanagan region, David McDougall, was enthusiastic about this newest addition to the Okanagan franchise. “We are very pleased that Nancy and Brett DeWitt have joined the Blenz family as the franchise partner and operators of the new Blenz Coffee store in Penticton. We think their enthusiasm for business and passion for coffee will play a major part in their success in Penticton.” As to the Penticton location, McDougall’s business partner, Graham Hawkins, said, “It’s been a priority for us to locate a Blenz Coffee store in Penticton. It’s a thriving community, and we’re sure that Blenz will be well-received by all the people of the city.”
