WHAT IS MATCHA? MATCHA IS PREMIUM TEA POWDER FROM JAPAN.

The Japanese tea ceremony centers on the preparation, serving and drinking of matcha. Matcha is made by grinding the entire leaf into a fine powder, which is then whisked directly into hot water so that when drinking, you consume the whole tea leaf.

At Blenz Coffee, we wouldn’t settle for anything less than 100% pure matcha. Our matcha contains no fillers or lower grade teas, only genuine super-premium matcha. Matcha is generally much more expensive than other forms of tea. The highest grades have a more intense sweetness and deeper flavour.

Japan Earthquake / Asia Pacific Tsunami Appeal

Blenz is raising money for the Japanese Red Cross appeal.

On Friday March 11, 2011, an 8.9 magnitude earthquake hit Japan. This has triggered 4 meter waves in Japan and tsunami warnings across the Pacific coastline. Hundreds of people are reported dead, and many more are injured or missing. The earthquake has caused fires and severe damage to buildings, leaving 4.4 million households without electricity. This tragic earthquake which struck Japan has caused a huge amount of chaos and devastation.
The Red Cross has deployed medical tents and 82 medical teams to the affected area. Volunteers are on the ground providing first aid and search and rescue operations. The Red Cross has started Restoring Family Links activities and emergency relief planning is underway.

So the Red Band campaign has come to an end and what a wonderful journey we all had. Love was in the air during the month of February and singles got a chance to express themselves through the use of wearing the red band on their Blenz Coffee. The lucky winner of the red band competition was Farhan Mohamed who collected the grand prize at the Blenz HQ this week. Hi everyone, we had a great day out on Wednesday the 2nd of March 2011 at the New Westminster neighbourhood party. Everyone there enjoyed the live music and beverages, not to mention the caricature drawings courtesy of Cory. Thank you to everyone who turned out and offered their support to the new store operators Kevin and Rakhsha.
