Blenz Whistler becomes an art gallery during Art Walk

Thursday, July 16th, 2009

This summer walk into Blenz Whistler, not only for their deliciously handcrafted beverages, but to support Whistler’s local artists. As part of a network of merchants in Whistler Village participating in Art Walk 2009, for the 2nd year in a row, Blenz Whistler will be showcasing artwork by local artists throughout the months of July and August. Art Walk is a hugely supported local initiative presented by Whistler Arts Council, TD Canada Trust, and Whistler Real Estate Company. People are given a map and go on a walking tour around Whistler Village where essentially the entire town becomes an art gallery.

Blenz Whistler is featuring two of the 71 local artists showcased in Art Walk 2009. One is a local high school art teacher, Brenda Norrie, and the other a graphic designer, Ruth Johnson. According to Wendy Kendall, the Operator of Blenz Whistler, many people are buying the art work in her store and the event has been very successful in supporting local artists.
